Owen Lostetter
Education
Owen Lostetter is a young and talented visual artist
from Abiquiu, New Mexico who produces sculpture, painting, and digital
art. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New
Mexico (Spring 2006), preceded by a certification from Albuquerque TVI
in the field of Computer Animation (Spring 2003), Owen returned to
Abiquiu in order to pursue his own professional arts career. Though he
primarily focused upon painting as a student he also studied sculpture,
and of course computer animation and computer graphics. Owens
various bodies of work are cohesive and bound by a love of abstract
composition and vivid color. To visit his galleries of digital art here

Digital Art
After
earning his BFA from UNM, and enjoying a brief hiatus from computer
work, Owen rekindled his interest in digital art and animation and
began creating colorful abstract images in Photoshop. He
found they came very easily, and soon dedicated generous amounts of
time to developing and creating new work flows in the digital
environment. He has yet to employ photography and 3-D
modeling into his digital compositions, if only because he enjoys using
the various brush, paint, filter, and blend mode tools in Photoshop so
much. However photography and 3-D modeling figures to become an
exciting new addition to the work in the near future.
Computing power is truly an amazing medium for the creation of visual
arts. Its utterly mathematical and pragmatic logic is a
surprising complement to the creative visual artist. Like
many other forms of modern technology, computers can facillitate
positive and uplifting results rather than negative ones, and it is to
the ends of the former that Owen has begun using the medium for image
making.
